Wood type(oak, walnut, cherry? not pine) This type of rocker has been called a sewing chair, a nursing chair and a slipper rocker. It has beautifully detailed carving in the wood. It may have been reupholstered and/or restained at some point. The fabric is in good condition with no rips or tears. It does not smell and has no stains. The back is carved ornamental spindles and the trim has some reeding in it. See photos 9& 10 which show the main"imperfections" in the chair including small chips and bubbles in the stain. This is a really old piece, I believe it is from the mid to late 1800's. The chair folds up and is smaller in size. I do not know the maker or exact date this chair was made.
